Lauren’s vision was to live a satisfying life that had a balance of career fulfillment, a connection to place and community, meaningful relationships, and an active spiritual life. The biggest piece that was missing for her was a fulfilling career.
Lauren had a range of interests and skills, but it was a challenge for her to drill down and focus on one thing. She wanted her work to reflect her values, talents, and gifts while allowing her to continue to develop personally and professionally. Although she was financially stable because of her partner, she wanted to be able to contribute to a lifestyle of healthy foods, family vacations, and personal development. She had the desire to create her ideal career, but was stuck in a cycle of self-doubt and disappointment. She had a lot of training and education under her belt but felt afraid to make a decision. She felt scattered, uncertain, and conflicted about what was next.
In addition to this, she also felt bogged down with family responsibilities. Now a stay-at-home-mom, she felt she had given up a lot of herself to be with her husband and now felt held back — and resentful. She wanted to rediscover a sense of freedom that had been missing for many years. Ultimately, she wanted to transform her marriage into a more fun and relaxed experience.
We started with setting better boundaries around her time. To do this, Lauren had to overcome the fear she had around conflict and really be willing to stand her ground. I also encouraged her to connect with her creative energy more regularly and be open to more joy, fun, and play. As she did this, her relationship become more authentic and more satisfying.
With her new boundaries in place, Lauren was able to consider how she wanted to spend her time. Not surprisingly, she decided to explore what talents she could leverage toward a fulfilling career. Through our work together, she realized she didn’t need to keep piling on certifications and trainings — she could do fulfilling work with the gifts and talents she already had. We created a vision for how she could launch a private practice that made use of her significant education, and she moved into action as a wellness coach!
I am really grateful to have this relationship with you. It’s really valuable to me to have someone to talk to about all this stuff – it’s not helpful to discuss it with friends. And, the insight you inspired during our last conversation is still rocking me and shifting my perspective!
From there, we focused on bringing in new clients and she began to contribute to the family finances. After some significant (and unrelated) shifts in her family life – including moving to be closer to her aging parents – she was able to leverage her client experience to get a job as a wellness coach — doing exactly what she loved. She is now relaxed in her partnership, happy in her new community, and satisfied in her career!
Knowing you has changed my life. I am forever grateful for your support and wisdom.
